Called NIIA launch meeting that was charged by Dr. Han-Min Hsia, Advisor to the President of R.O.C.

NIIA was founded with MOEA approval and was officially registered as a non-profit foundation. The Board of Directors was formed, with Dr. Han-Min Hsia elected Chairman of the Board.  

Hosted the first meeting of Advisory Committees.  

Called the first Board Meeting. Appointed Mr. Paul Wang, former General Manager of Infortimes Corp., as Secretary General of NIIA.  

Hosted a series of seminars on Strategies and Development of Taiwan NII Content Industry.  

Hosted a series of conferences of Deregulation of Taiwan Telecommunications Sector.  

Completed the project of Internet content industry sponsored by Science and Technology Advisory Group (STAG), Executive Yuan.  

Established CommerceNet Taiwan(CNT), a Global Partner of the CommerceNet Consortium. The Ministry of Economic Affairs sponsors CNT to promote electronic commerce and to translate the Internet into a global electronic marketplace.  

Hosted the ���97 NII Beyond 2000 Forum, an annual event of NIIA to create the opportunity of exchanging perspectives of Taiwan���s science and technology policies between the public and private sectors. Forum topics included Electronic Commerce, Deregulation of Taiwan���s Telecommunications Industry, and Integration of 3C Technology and industries.

Dr. Hsia represented CNT attending the Global Electronic Commerce Meeting hosted by CommerceNet Consortium.  

Conducted and completed government-sponsored projects on Distant Education, 3C Integration Industry Action Plans, Water Resources NII Networks, and Development of Internet Content Industries.  

Rolled out Water Resources and Disaster Warning System Visiting Program to U.S.A.  

Launched research project on Global Chinese Content Network Center sponsored by STAG.  

Attended 3C Integration System-on-a-Chip expertise workshop in Europe and U.S.A.  

CNT attended International Electronic Commerce Global Submit Conference in Spain.  

Rolled out Water Resources and Disaster Warning System Visiting Program to Japan.  

Completed many government-sponsored research projects嚗�including Globalization of Electronic Commerce projects, Wireless PCS Industry Development Project, Distance Education pilot plan, Global Chinese Content Network Center research project, Integration of 3C Technology Project.

Hold 1999 Electronic Commerce Barriers online survey with CommercenNet Global Partners on the CommerceNet Taiwan website  

Hosted XML eCommerce Seminar and invited Mr. Patrick Gannon, Vice President of CommerceNet ; and Mr. Rick Jelliffe, the scientist of Computing Center, Academia Sinica to give speeches in Taiwan.   

CNT convened Asia-Pacific Global Electronic Commerce Board cum XML seminar.  

Visited wireless communication companies in Bay Area and hosted expertise workshop to exchange information with US industry and academia.  

Hosted the second Elite Forum: XML/EDI and invited Prof. Eric Jui-Lin Lu, Department of Information Management, Chaoyang University of Technology to give the speech  

Hosted the third Elite Forum: XML-based Corporation Electronic Filing and invited Mr. Ronald Weng, President of Anjes Corp. to give the speech  

Hold a series of Electronic Commerce events, including XML/EDI elite forum, XML-based Corporation Electronic Filing elite forum, E-Commerce Professional Advancement Programs, 1999 Electronic Commerce Barriers Survey forum.  

Hold 1999 Asia CommerceNet Survey of Procurement and Catalog activity with Asia Global Partners, including Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Hong Kong.  

Hosted the fifth Elite Forum: the Tread & Vision of eComerce Development of ICP Industry in Taiwan and invited Chen Mi-Chiung, Section Chief of Commerce Department to give the speech.  

Hosted Examination of Disaster Warning System in Taiwan From the 921 Earthquake Experience Seminar
