Before Dr. Lawrence Lessig, a Professor of Law at Stanford Law School,
introduced the concept so-called ˇ§some rights reservedˇ¨, we used to utilize
and adhere to the conventional intellectual property right - all rights
reserved policy. After proposing the idea of Creative Commons, a wave
of new digital content licensing sweep all over the world. Its unique
attributes of free and easy-to-use deed for content creators and users,
knowledge sharing and creativity flourishing, and a balance between the
bipolar vision of the intellectual property right - total control and
anarchy, all contribute to the accessibility and the remix of digital
content.
With the efforts of Creative Commons and the Institute of Information
Science, Academia Sinica, Taiwan jurisdiction-specific licenses have
been integrated into the Creative Commons licensing process. Also, in
quest of the sustainability of commons-based peer productions and sustainable
online business models that incorporate Creative Commons licenses, the
conference will focus on the theme of exploring business model and sharing
economy in CC, and probing scientific commons in Taiwan via the presentation
from Magnatune,
Jamendo, Skysoft
Inc. and the team of ˇ§The Academic Applications and the Dissemination
of the Culture Heritage Projectˇ¨.
It is anticipated that through the conference, lawyers, scholars, creators,
Internet content providers and content users interested in Creative Commons
can join a force to start a culture movement that fit in Taiwanˇ¦s
society.
